For the record
Author: Tom
We are still hanging out waiting. More calmly of course. She is getting another exam.
For the record: Doctor: Dr. Reid Nurse: Shae
Update: We are pushing and the exam was great.
Status
Author: Tom
Well, Zoe will be born on 12-12-08. Tammy is fully dialated with only a small lip to go. Zoe is also sunny side up. They are gonna try to flip her in a while.

Pain is too much
Author: Tom
Tammy gave her all but the pain from from the pitocin finally pulled ahead.
First try was the fentonyl but it didn’t do squat. Poor Tammy was in too much pain. Now the epidural has been pit in.
She is much better now. Now we can focus on Zoe!
Labor

Pitocin has been increased
Author: Tom
Long day today. (not over)
Author: Tom
She is a trooper. Both of my girls are doing wonderful. Still med-free but the pain is certainly increasing.
The staff is impressed how well she is doing. Still 3cm dialated but 90 % effaced and the baby’s head is dropping. All is going well. She is getting another exam in 2min.
Gonna be parents…

We will meet Zoe LATE tonight or tommorrow. We are being induced. Check blog for updates. Yay!
Contractions do not subside
Author: Tom
> They are never just “releasing”. They go from tight to tighter right > now. She is taking them well but they are getting worse. I’m excited!
Here we go!!!!
Author: Tom
We got the results of the urine testing. The result? Too much protein. This means that Tammy has pre-eclampsia. This also means that Tammy is now moved to another room to be induced!
We were expecting to walk out this morning. The truth now is that the next time that Tammy leaves, we will have little Zoe with us! Holy smokes!
The doctor already came in and seperated her membrane this morning. Tammy is waiting for the IV and the pitocin. Not the natural route intended but our concern is the baby and the mommy. We will do what is best for our family.
We are very torn. Both of us want to yell this at the world but there is no reason to worry people already. We will spread the word soon enough.
I am very, very, very excited and I have trouble with my vision (constantly teary-eyed). It is sinking in that I’ll be a dad today or tomorrow. I’m sure this will be the best club that I have ever joined!
Here we go!!!
Water is broken
Author: Tom
The doctor broke Tammy’s water. She is having regular contractions. All is good so far!

Mega-menstrual cramp
Author: Tom
That is how Tammy has just described the contractions. They are getting worse. I can see it in her face. We just finished a 15 minute walk and she is sitting on the birth ball again. She is currently moaning. Go Tammy!
Back pain relief?

Tammy has her Starbucks
Author: Tom
I got up at 04:24 this morning. I took the dogs out and started a pot of coffee. While it was brewing, I went for a run. When I finished, I had a bit of coffee and took a shower. > > I then went to Starbucks to get a “Venti decaf breve latte with > sugar free vanilla and sugar free caramel” for Tammy. I don’t know > what I am saying but I just spout out those words and the hand me a > cup for her. > > I got to the hospital and it seemed that Tammy was asleep. I am > amazed. She is usually up. She said that the night went well and > there was nothing new. Her urine testing concluded at 03:00.
Today’s Ultrasound results
Author: Tom
Well, we just completed a diagnostic ultrasound (BPP I think).
Ratings go like this: Breating for over 30 sec: (0 or 2) Amniotic fluid: (0 or 2) 2 or 3 small/flection movements: (0 or 2) 3 large movements: (0 or 2)
This is over 30 minutes. Score can be 0,2,4,6 or 8. Eight is what is expected. We recieved 6 of 8 as Zoe only had 2 large movements and this brought her score down. It is not really a horrible thing, just a rating. She was moving a bunch prior to the ultrasound and is moving a bunch since we returned to the room.
Giving some blood
Author: Tom
The human pincushin gives some more blood. She had to give up 4 vials this time. Wowsers!
This is what high blood pressure looks like
Author: Tom
We have to visit the hospital AGAIN! The doctor wants to monitor her blood pressure and her urine for 12 hours. She also wants to monitor the baby during this time. This means another night in the hospital! Sheesh!
We are talking about having our mail forwarded as we spend more time in labor and delivery than at home.
More running back and forth checking on the dogs. I just have to do it faster now in case Zoe just “happens” to want to come at this time. I better put my tennis shoes on.
At the Gristmill
Author: Tom
Eating at the Gristmill in historic Gruene, Texas. Great atmosphere here. No German food but it is a fun place. I’m getting a burger and Tammy is having Wurst.
I dislike people equally
Author: Tom
Currently, I dislike this fat, sloppy, line-jumping pig. Now, the cow is crowding the register waiting for her slop. I mention something and all I get is the back of her nappy head as she rattles off Spanish to her hog-for-a-son. I got dissed and then ignored.
Guess Zoe’s Birthday
Author: Tom
Zoe’s official due date is December 18th, 2008. Those are never right. So, just for fun, guess the time and date of her birth: http://thebraseltons.com/bday
It is open to anyone! Take a guess!
